an example: invented topic, real mentor moves

MentorFirst a few questions about you, then some situations to find your starting point. Nothing is graded, and “I don’t know” is a fine answer. This program is about holding your price. What would that change in your own work?

Your sample reply: I’d stop cutting my quote the second a client hesitates. It happens at almost every renewal.

Meet the mentor that walks with you

Nobody learned to walk from a lecture. Someone showed you, you tried, someone steadied you, and you tried again. Tempered brings back the way every hard skill was passed down for centuries.

  1. 01Show

Your mentor walks you through it done well, with a worked example from the method of someone who has done it for years. Real methods from real experts, not a highlight reel.

  2. 02Try

You do one, in your own work, with your own stakes. Falling short of the target is how learning starts.

    the goalfirst try
  3. 03Refine

Your mentor works from exactly what you did and shows you the next move. It questions the thinking, never the person. No red pen, no ranking you against a class.

    next try
  4. 04Prove

Show you can do it against a real bar, on your own work. A separate grader reads what you did and decides. Then you move up. Not when you finish the material. When you can do it.

Under every step, a mentor who remembers you, working inside your own Claude.

How a program works, start to finish

The first great school had no walls

In 335 BC Aristotle began teaching at the Lyceum, a grove outside the walls of Athens. He taught while walking its covered colonnade, and his students became known as the Peripatetics: the ones who walk.

Learning happened in the open air, out loud, through questions that pushed a thought further than it wanted to go. The challenge was aimed at the idea, and the student came out stronger.

Tempered is built on that. Your mentor walks with you. It asks before it tells. It challenges your thinking and stands up for you.

Challenge the thought. Lift the person.THE TEMPERED WAY

Hard is brittle. Tempered is strong

Freshly hardened steel shatters under a sharp hit. Smiths fix that by reheating it to an exact temperature and holding it there. The metal gives up a little hardness and gains toughness: it flexes under load and comes back.

Glass works the same way. Heated and cooled under control, tempered glass ends up about four times stronger than ordinary glass.

People are no different. Pressure applied with care, and held long enough, makes you stronger. Pressure without care just breaks things.
